Growing up in India, Anju was surrounded by the smell of her mother's kitchen, chutneys bubbling, spices roasting, recipes passed down without ever being written down. She was always the chief taster, and it was a job she loved.
Those recipes were over 100 years old, carrying the warmth of the kitchen in India, the care of a mother who knew that food made with love tastes different from food made any other way.
When Anju had her own family in the UK, the tradition continued. Every year, the kitchen would fill with those same fragrances, same patience, and the same love.
Friends and family would taste the chutneys and say the same thing, year after year, "You should sell these."
So it all began!

For 25 years, there was an annual family cookout. The family gathered and the same chutneys, made the same way, perfected a little more with each passing year.
Chutree is a beautiful little project that has been waiting to happen all our lives. It is our tribute to saving heritage, to preserving the gems found in family recipes, and sharing the love that goes into every jar.
Inspired by only two things, nature and family recipes, Anju and her daughter Gayathri built Chutree together. A brand that started at a kitchen table in Camberley and now ships award-winning chutneys across the UK.
Every jar is still made the same way it always was. Small batches using natural ingredients. No shortcuts. No compromise.
Because some things should never change.

The keeper of the recipes and the heart of Chutree. Anju's culinary instincts, honed over decades of family cooking, are the foundation of every jar we make.
She approaches the kitchen the same way she always has: with patience, love, and absolutely no shortcuts. If the chutney isn't right, it doesn't get bottled. That's always been the rule.
Growing up in India, Anju was her mother's chief taster. Now she's ours. Every flavour in the Chutree range reflects her knowledge, her instinct, and her belief that homemade food, made with real ingredients and real care, simply tastes better.
"I grew up in India surrounded by the tempting smells of luscious chutneys cooking in our home kitchen. I was my mother's chief taster — a job I loved!" — Anju
The daughter who turned Mum's passion into a brand that people all over the UK can share. Gayathri brings the vision, the energy, and the commercial instinct to Chutree, combined with an absolute belief in what they make, because she grew up eating it.
She knows every recipe intimately. She's tasted every batch. And she built the company with one simple conviction: that the chutneys made in their family kitchen were genuinely worth sharing with the world.
When she's not driving Chutree forward, she's the first to arrive at a market stall, the last to leave, and the one making sure every customer who tries a jar goes home with one.
"Mum has the recipes. I have the determination to get them to your table." — Gayathri
No artificial preservatives, colourings, or flavourings. If Mum wouldn't use it in her kitchen, it doesn't go into our jars. Every ingredient is chosen for flavours and quality, nothing else.
Small-batch production means every jar gets the care and attention it deserves. This is homemade cooking; it just happens to be available to everyone now.
Chutree is our tribute to saving heritage, to making sure that the gems found in family recipes aren't lost. Every product carries a story that deserves to live on.
All our chutneys are vegan or vegetarian and gluten-free. Real food for everyone, no compromise on flavour, no compromise on values.
